Temperature Variations
Oklahoma is located in a position of differing prevailing temperatures and winds. This causes the weather of this state vary widely between short distances and can change all of a sudden in a very short time. For instance, on the 11th of November, 1911 temperatures in Oklahoma City rose to 83 degrees Fahrenheit (28 degrees Centigrade) during the day and an incoming gust of wind dropped temperatures down to 17 degrees Fahrenheit at midnight.
Climatic Variations
Climatic conditions in the eastern parts of Oklahoma are most influenced by southerly winds which bring moisture from the Gulf of Mexico causing the region to have a humid subtropical climate. Precipitation and temperatures fall from the east to the west of Oklahoma accordingly with the southern region having temperatures that average 62 degrees Fahrenheit (17 degrees Centigrade) with an annual rainfall of 56b inches (1.420 mm) while areas in the panhandle experience average temperatures of 58 degrees Fahrenheit (14 degree Centigrade) with annual rainfall averaging 17 inches (430 mm).
